Job description

DevOps team members at Finreach Solutions are responsible for maintaining and administering computer infrastructure/operating environments and business software applications. Furthermore you will work with our operations team with setting up and managing the operation of project development and test environments as well as the software configuration management processes for the entire application development lifecycle.

We are currently transforming from a product/solution business to an API Platform business and as such you will be an integral part of our journey together with our Operations team with a very broad impact, and a significant opportunity to take ownership. Finreach Solutions team members come from a wide variety of backgrounds and are naturally curious self-learners, and build the right solution for the long term rather than the right solution for right now.

What you'll achieve: 

First weeks:

  • Become comfortable with our tools and processes by partnering with our Senior System Engineer to ramp up effectively

  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure

  • Install and configure, test and maintain operating systems, databases, application software and system management tools

  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
  • Provide application incident support and troubleshooting; Support for all other IT-related topics.

First Months

  • Take ownership of more significant, large-scale projects and deliver solutions

  • Build tools or processes that make the whole team more efficient and effective

  • Thrive for pragmatic perfection, pay attention to the details of security, scalability, performance and fault-tolerance

  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes

  • Create and maintain automated infrastructure to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on tasks

  • Provide application incident support and troubleshooting

  • Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders for proactive problem resolution.


What you'll need to be successful:

  • Strong current  experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Linux based environments
  • Experience with MongoDB &/or SQL
  • Strong DevOps culture advocate with excellent communication skill in both English. German is a plus.
  • Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks (e.g. Tomcat, Ruby, NGINX)
  • Experience with monitoring systems (e.g. Grafana, ELK Stack)  & automation software (e.g., Puppet, Ansible)
  • Good hands-on experience with Docker, CI/CD, Travis and GIT branching strategies
  • Experience with Cloud providers and virtualization techniques
  • Solid scripting skills (e.g. shell scripts, Perl or Python)
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes is a plus
  • A strong sense of ownership of the work you do and believe in doing things the right way for the right reasons

Our Stack: 

Our technical stack consists of several services which are written in Java with Spring Boot. They communicate via HTTP and data is stored in MongoDB, and Elasticsearch. Our frontends are based on JavaScript with React.js. The services are running in Docker containers in a private data center for high security. Deployments are orchestrated with Ansible and Rundeck, and we are looking forward to moving to Kubernetes. We use GitHub for source control and Travis CI for continuous integration. The development process is in Scrum-based with 2-week sprints.
